FAQs

Does Patel Welfare Foundation accept unsolicited requests?No, we do not accept unsolicited grant requests.

What is a Letter of Inquiry (LOI)?A Letter of Inquiry (LOI) serves as the first step in the application process before requesting a full proposal from a prospective grantee.

Where can I access a Letter of Inquiry (LOI)? After prospective grantees are invited by Program Staff, The Grants Management Department will contact prospective grantees via email with instructions to the online LOI. In the event of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), the instructions will be made available via Patel Welfare Foundation’s website. All LOIs must be submitted electronically.

Where can I access grant applications? Patel Welfare Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications except in the case of Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Prospective grantees will be provided access to Patel Welfare Foundation’s grant application upon invitation from Patel Welfare Foundation, New York U.S.A. All applications must be submitted electronically.

Does Patel Welfare Foundation issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs)? Yes. Should Patel Welfare Foundation elect to issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), this will be announced on Patel Welfare Foundation’s website (www.foundationusa.com) and other media outlets as appropriate.

Does Patel Welfare Foundation only fund organizations that have 501(c)(3) status?Patel Welfare Foundation generally funds public charities classified under Section 501(c)(3). Under the 501(c)(3) status,Patel Welfare Foundation awards grants to 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2) organizations.Patel Welfare Foundation does not typically fund 509(a)(3), Type III supporting organizations.Patel Welfare Foundation also funds internationally-based organizations without 501(c)(3) status that are found to be equivalent to US-based public charities, and charitable projects at for-profit organizations. If your organization has a 509(a)(3) classification or any relevant tax status questions, please contact Grants Management at grants@foundationusa.com or your program staff contact.

Can I get a template in advance of my application?Patel Welfare Foundation does not issue advance copies of applications. You should be given an adequate amount of time to complete your application. If you need to adjust your application timeline, please contact the program staff who invited your application.

Communications

How should I promote my Patel Welfare Foundation-funded work? Patel Welfare Foundation seeks to support grantees’ efforts by promoting Patel Welfare Foundation-funded work and building greater visibility for the important work you do. Please note that Patel Welfare Foundation must receive a signed Grant Agreement from the grantee prior to the distribution of other public statements pertaining to Patel Welfare Foundation, and all communications materials must be reviewed by Patel Welfare Foundation. Please direct all communications queries and materials for review to Communications Officer Mukesh C.(mukesh@foundationusa.com,). 

How do I use the Patel Welfare Foundation name? The official name is the Patel Welfare Foundation, Charitable Trust. The official name must be used in this exact form as the first reference to Patel Welfare Foundation within the main text of any press releases or public documents that mention Patel Welfare Foundation. You may use either “the Patel Welfare Foundation Charitable Trust” or simply “Patel Welfare Foundation” in all subsequent references beyond the initial reference to the official name. Any headline may refer to Patel Welfare Foundation as the "Patel Welfare Foundation Charitable Trust."

How can Patel Welfare Foundation help communicate my work? We welcome any content that may help us communicate our grantees’ work to a larger audience. Patel Welfare Foundation frequently promotes grantees’ work both on our website and Written content that showcases your work, such as stories, press coverage, or publications, as well as photographs or videos, is helpful in Patel Welfare Foundation’s communications efforts. Accessing the Patel Welfare Foundation Grants Portal 

How do I access my application?Beginning November 26, 2018, Patel Welfare Foundation will transition to a new online system that allows grantees to access applications and any information related to the status of grant applications. Existing grantees and applicants will receive information related to the switchover email ID provided by you. 

What browser works best with the grant application interface?The preferred browser is Google Chrome, but Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox can also be used with minor issues.

Can our organization have multiple people access a grant application? Beginning November 26, Patel Welfare Foundation's transition to a new online system will allow multiple people to access a grant application. Instructions on how to set up multiple users is accessible through Patel Welfare Foundation's new online portal.

How can I access my data as a former Patel Welfare Foundation grantee? If you are a former grantee and you are looking for records of your grant or details from your grant application,contact our Communication Officer email address mukesh@foundationusa.com to request your archived data.
